We love hosting families and there's so much to do locally with lots of attractions that appeal to everyone from the very youngest to the oldest in your group.  Two top trips? We'd recommend West Wittering Beach and the charming harbourside village of Bosham.  When you get back from your trips you'll find our cottages are set up to be easy for families to settle into, with everything provided that you need to have a fabulous holiday.

Joyful Times at West Wittering Beach

Summer days on the beach... ice creams, spades, sunbathing & swimming, there's no better way to make the most of warm weather! West Wittering beach is a Blue Flag beach, with an expansive sandy shore and clear waters perfect for a dip. It's great any time of year, but there's nothing quite like lying back soaking up the sun whilst the kids build sandcastles and splash in the shallows. Pre-book the car park for the best price & to ensure you get a spot. Dogs are welcome all year, from May - Sept they can only use part of the beach.  Get all the details on our blog:  a perfect day at West Wittering beach.

Explore Bosham

The historic village of Bosham is a picturesque place to spend some time, with a long and interesting history, beautiful buildings, and lovely spots to eat and drink, including the wonderfully traditional Anchor Bleu pub. Walk from the pretty harbourside village around the shore, or hop on the little fair weather ferry to Itchenor, where there is a great pub and more places to walk. The views back across the harbour, & the siren call of the ice cream van will tempt you (and motivate the kids) to get back to the village for a stroll around the Arts & Crafts centre, a paper bag full of old fashioned sweet treats, and an ice cream cone.

Stop at the Anchor Bleu pub for food and a pint on their shore side balcony, before exploring the fascinating 1000 year old church, which is pictured in the Bayeux tapestry. Head onto the green to watch sailing boats on the water, perhaps to do a spot of crabbing, feed the ducks, or have a paddle. It's all rather charming and a relaxed place to spend some time, plus it's only 5 minutes drive away from Oakwood West, so easy to return home to the hot tub as soon as you're ready!

Fabulous Family Events in West Sussex and Hampshire

There are many excellent attractions locally, and if you're here at the right time you'll be able to get involved in the seasonal festivals, shows, and experiences that they put on. Here are three that come highly recommended.

The Loxwood Joust - Step into a medieval festival with full contact jousting, banqueting, craft & weapons workshops, immersive adventures, and meet a host of fabulous characters. You won't find anything like this anywhere else!

The Hawk Conservancy Trust - See three incredible flying displays a day, fun activities and talks too.  Birds of prey will swoop low over your head, and you'll experience amazing aerobatic displays and get to see the birds up close.    It's a riveting & really memorable experience that the whole family will get a lot out of. Find them in Andover, Hampshire.

Goodwood - The world famous and impeccably well run events and experiences at Goodwood include the Festival of Speed, The Revival, horse racing, music events, track days, and Goodwoof, their newest event celebrating all things dog.

Aldingbourne Country Centre - The program of Easter & Summer events is sure to catch the attention of younger children, with previous years including fields full of bouncy castles, foam parties, falconry displays, assault courses and more. It's all in a delightful setting, with a farm animal trail, play areas, maze, mini crazy golf and more. You know kids are at the heart of all they do when the best way to get from the cafe to the exit is down an indoor slide!

A Happy Family Holiday Review

"This place is such a good find. We visited with another family and between us we had 4 under threes and two dogs. It was perfect for our set up and the location was great with lots of toddler friendly activities/days out nearby, and the adults could all recover in the hot tub after bedtime! Sarah is a great host, very communicative and friendly."
